About Learning Lenormand

My Lenormand Journey

The Titania’s Fortune Cards was my very first oracle deck, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.  When I spotted the cards on the bargain table at the bookstore, I picked them up on a whim. My mother is a Tarot reader, and I intended them as a gift for her.  I knew my mother collected cards, and I thought she would enjoy them.  I was wrong.

My mother convinced me that I was compelled to buy the cards because the deck was meant for me. I had spent most of my life watching her do readings at our kitchen table, but I never developed an interest in card reading.  She handed the cards back to me, and told me that I needed to work with them myself.

As usual, Mom was right. That was back in 2001, and I’ve been hooked on the Lenormand ever since; although it wasn’t until a few years later that I discovered the actual Lenormand cards. When I realized that the Titania’s Fortune Cards were (in fact) a modern version of that traditional deck, a world of information opened up for me, and my interest in card reading took a more dedicated turn.

Now it’s been several years since I left my Titania’s Fortune Cards behind in search of more expansive card meanings, but I’ve never forgotten my roots.  Every so often I am drawn back to my faithful Titania cards, which have always given me accurate and useful readings.

My current method of reading the Lenormand is a conglomeration of several different styles and traditions.  I have studied all of the popular Lenormand resources available in English including the Britta Kienle course, the Treppner course, the book by Sylvie Steinbach, and the book by Mario Dos Santos.

I follow the French tradition of ascribing work and money to the Fox and Bear because that is what works for me. Generally, I do not follow the practice of attributing meaning to the direction a card image faces; for example, the blade on the Scythe, or the binding on the Book, or the light and dark sides of the Clouds. I tried those techniques while studying the Treppner course, and found that they only caused confusion in my readings.

This blog is dedicated to learning the Lenormand oracle cards. It will serve as a record of my daily card draws and practice readings. I don’t know if you’ll find anything useful here. My intention is not to teach, but to record my own explorations with the Lenormand, but you’re welcome to learn along with me.

    Hi there,

I am a big fan! I am very much enjoying your blog and your readings!! For me reading Lenormand cards is really difficult, especially because my intuition is somehow on a really low point!
It is hard for me to guess what are cards trying to tell me and I love the way you are patiently explaining trivial basics!! I wish you posted more new readings soon, its been extremely helpful to see how you interpret the various mixture of cards, when I try to do mine reading!!!

I have also one question. I have a crush on a celebrity, at this point It seems impossible to ever meet him!! But I couldnt resist not to ask my Lenormand cards and I got these cards!!
    MOON +GARDEN+HEART+TREE+KEY

To me it looks like there is a chance though to meet him once..What do you thing of my interpretation???
I would be very happy to hear your opinion
    Thanks so much!!!
    Cheers!

    • Hi Margot,

Thank you for the wonderful feedback about the blog. I’m grateful that my example readings are helping you. Learning to read the Lenormand cards has been a magical journey for me, but I can remember in the beginning when I too had trouble figuring out what the cards were trying to say to me. After loads of practice, I’ve learned to trust my feeling and impressions, and the cards have proven themselves time and again. I encourage you to continue working with the cards, even though it seems difficult right now. Try not to take the cards too seriously. Just have fun, and it will all come together sooner than you think!

You did a fantastic job on your reading about your celebrity crush. I’m going to offer my opinion on your reading in my next post, so stay tuned! :)

Hi, your blog helps a lot, because it is very easy to understand, thanks for sharing your experience with us,please proceed, here in México, its very difficult to find the Lenormand that I love, but gradually will be more, greetings your friend, Claudia.
(I think it is because everything can be bought through credit cards and the exchange rate and lack of diffusion and disemination of this wonderful method.)

    Hello there :)

I am back to your blog to ask You for help!
Lately I have been attending an interview regarding school admission. About one month before the interview I drew these cards, I got very upset about it mostly because I really wished to be chosen.. Now after the interview I see that things are not really going well for me, I haven’t received any results yet but I got in touch with the person who was present in the committee and he said I didn’t get that much points for the interview

I drew these cards: snake ring coffin key clover

I would be really greateful if you could give me an opinion of what you think about these cards.
Is there still a chance to be admitted?

Thanks so much!! Looking forward to hear from You back!!

    Hello there,

I really like your blog, I have a question and wondering if you could answer, I have been having issues at work. An indespensible co-worker is leaving her position and I have concern that things are going to be tough without her. I did a few readings with my Lenormand cards, utilizing the No Layout Spread, and with 19- The Tower as the key card, the cards came out as:

    22- The Crossroads + 15 – The Bear + 26 – The Book + 19 – The Tower + 7- The Snake + 12 – The Birds + 21 – The Mountain

This does not look pretty and so what is your general feedback on this? Greatly appreciated. :)

    • Hi Sonia, thank you. I would read the cards on the left as the current status of the office prior to your co-worker leaving. The Book symbolizes information, and in reference to the office the Book could refer to projects and assignments, or to financial bookkeeping (Bear + Book). I don’t know what her specific duties were, but the Bear is also control and management, and the Paths is about mediating and multi-tasking. It seems this co-worker took on a good amount of responsibility, handled multiple tasks, and helped keep the office running smoothly.

The cards on the left reveal the results of her leaving. The Snake indicates difficulties, so I think things will be a little tough when the co-worker leaves, and there could be a bit of trouble keeping up with the work load. The Birds is all about communication, and the Mountain indicates delays, so delays with communication and client relations.

I don’t think the business will fall apart, but I do think you can expect a few delays until they’re able to hire and train someone to fill her position. On that note, something else comes to mind when I’m reminded that the Birds is also the interviewing process. The Mountain suggest that they may not hire someone right away, or they may not find someone suitable to replace her right away. It may not be so easy to find someone to fill her shoes.

Naturally the weight is going to fall on the remaining staff, but think of this as an opportunity to showcase your skills and abilities by helping to fill in the gaps. :)

I’m really enjoying your blog. I’ve added you to my blogroll :)

    • Thank you, Ben Vee. I’m glad you found me. I’ve added you to my blogroll as well. :)
I’ve been looking at those Playing Card Oracle cards on Marina’s Saturness blog, and now on your blog too. I may just have to order myself a deck!

    Dear Lenormand Sleuth:

I just wanted to say that you’re a talented card reader. Your interpreation of the cards have come true! It has been over a month, the people in charge have interviewed nearly a dozen people, and we have not hired anyone! So yes, it is taking a while before hiring. We are going about it like business as usual except we’re totally short staffed and creating a back log. The law office is not falling apart, but we are slow in handling claims, and some work is not getting done. I have no idea when we’ll hire someone — it’s taking awhile.

    Sincerely,

    Sonia

    Hi,
I’m a fan of your blog. Thank you for sharing your readings because I learn a lot from how you explain everything. Do you plan to write about how you do the GT? I struggle with the GT and I think it would help me and other people too to see how you break it all down.
    Thanks,
    GM

    • Hi GM,

Thank you. I’m glad that my explanations are helpful. :)

There was a time when I used the Grand Tableau exclusively, but not in quite a while. I was introduced to the GT in the ebooks by Britta Kienle, and so her method forms the basis of my own method. I added some techniques from the Treppner course, and then more from blogs and other resources I encountered.

Yes, I’d be happy to show how I read the GT. I’ll probably have to break it down into several posts since it can be a lengthy process.
